I have been a 'garden' hen owner for a couple of years now and I certainly wouldn't be without my girls!  Due to the tragic loss of Gladys, I desperately needed to find a couple of new friends for Gertie who was pining.

After a Google search I located Heidi's Happy Hens. What fantastic service!  Whilst I was waiting looking around at the POL chucks, a young family with two small children were choosing their first hens.

Heidi guided them through the process, advising them on suitable breeds, equipment etc. The children were having a wonderful time playing on the climbing frames, looking at the pony, playing with the kittens and checking out the hen houses.

When they left Heidi presented the girls with a bright pink egg box complete with fresh eggs.

Then Heidi helped me choose the POL hens and then gave me very sound advice as to how to introduce them to Gertie.

I wish I had found HHH's before, it is a fantastic set up and certainly a happy experience visiting. The hens all looked very healthy and the personal service is very special. I will be back soon for a bunny!

Thank you once again, Maggie

Hi Heidi

For a long time we had always bought our hens from somewhere else but when they stopped selling hens we had to find somewhere else and thats when we found 'Heidis Happy Hens'.

I can't tell you how happy we are with your excellent after care service the best in the industry , your knowledge and kindness, and although our previous suplier has re opened again we will never use anyone else but you.

Although your not so local to us its worth those extra miles to see the hens outside where they should be.  And for your unique service and the hens are definately HAPPY!!

See you again soon

Hi Heidi

What a wonderful morning my daughter & I had when we came to chose our ‘girls’.  We loved seeing the hens free ranging outside as soon as we walked in the gate.  All the different coloured hens all mixed together looked beautiful.

Right from the start we were made to feel genuinely welcomed. We were invited to wander into the 3 stables to have a look at the chucks & told to take our time, no rush etc.,  It was great. I was spoilt for choice but soon found the 3 I wanted. I was impressed by how clean & comfortable the stables were for the hens, no overcrowding etc., Happy Hens definitely !!
When I got home my hens settled straight away and are so friendly. Whenever I go into the run all three come out even when I have nothing to offer them & can pick them up for a cuddle. The grandchildren love them & have adopted a hen each but the Coucou is still my baby.

Really well impressed by your knowledge Heidi and your wonderful animals. They all look so happy & healthy and you obviously love them all.

I loved being able to see all of your animals, ponies, pigs, kittens to name a few.  I can not wait to come back and meet the donkeys and the goats.

I thoroughly recommend Heidi for anyone wishing to venture into poultry keeping – you don’t feel ‘alone’ when you have someone like Heidi to turn to.

I’m really enjoying my 3 even getting up early to let them out in the snow is not so bad – at least I’m getting used to the bad weather side straight away.

Thanks again, Jenny”

Hi Heidi, Danny, William, Harry & Jack

It as always is lovely to come back and visit you to get our supplies again.

You are a wonderful family business and are always so helpful and it doesn't matter how busy you are, you always give good quality customer care to every individual and are always happy to spend time giving any additional advice.

You look so well and even though it is less than 5 months since you had Jack you are trimmed back to your great self already. It much be all that running about after children and chickens!!

We noticed all the wonderful changes and jobs that you are doing and the place is starting to look really fantastic. It is good to look at all the many other animals, mini shetland ponies, micro pigs, dogs, kittens, rabbits, really brilliant.

We love seeing the hens being outside, they really do have a HUGE area.  Its nice to be able to walk around their paddock and see them enjoying the fresh air.  Love the pink fence posts too.

Again, thank you for the advice you gave us over our broody hen she is now happy again. They are all still laying daily and some eggs are getting extremely large.

I'm sure we will being visiting you again very soon.

Best wishes and kind regards

Hi Heidi

I have finally got round to emailing you about how happy i am with my chickens. i got a Copper Black, Snowflake, Crested and Coucou from you about two months ago. they have all settled in very well and sorted there pecking order out. they have become much loved members of our family, the dog is slowly getting less scared of them and she will go and have a sniff. my two and a half year old son loves going out in the afternoon and collecting the eggs (the only one not to lay so far is the crested) we have called them Iris (Copper Black) Betty (Snowflake) Dorris (Coucou) Daisy (Crested). im really happy with the service you gave us and would defiantly recommend you to others. i hope all is well and i shall pop back soon :)

Rebecca

Hi Heidi

I just realised I hadn't thanked you for your advise about our broody hen Bob, Keeping the hen house shut worked a treat and after three days she was back to her normal self.  all the hens are laying well and we are having some interesting patterns on the shells .the snowflakes are not white at the moment as they seem to love paddling about in the muddiest sludge they can find.  We have so many friends wanting eggs that I have told Phil we need a bigger coop and about 6 more hens!!

I love the rabbit page, we have had rabbits in the past and you are right , finding a nice one is so hard. our first was a very friendly boy who Mr Fox took from us and our last was so vicious he never even had a proper name, we just referred to him as ‘git'. He was given away to a rabbit lady who had them running free in her garden so at least he was happy.

Any way that's it for now you are a busy girl, keep well

Amanda x

Heidi (My little sis), Dan the Man, William , Harry and Jack (my beautiful boys).

We also wanted to write you a little note to say a HUGE thank you for our beautiful birds.  They are so tame and follow the girls everywhre.  And the eggs are so tasty.  As your sister I would not have gone anywhere else.  Who else would have given me three hens??

I just wanted you to know how very proud of you we all are.  Heidi during both Harry and Jacks pregnancy you worked up until the day before you had both boys concidering you were over two weeks late it amazed me.  You were still at work and chasing chickens around with your huge bump (Fatty he he) and then back to work within a few days.

For everyone thinking of buying hens Heidis Happy Hens is the only place to go.  Its a small family business where Heidis love of animals shines through.  My little sister and her hubby Danny are two of the most hardest working people I know.  I really dont know how they do it, what with three young boys, two dogs, cats, four hourses, pigs, rabbits, chickens, and soon to be cows!!

So come on people get yourself down to Heidi's Happy Hens I know I am biaest, but have a read at all of the comments below.  Everyone agrees with me there really is no where else to get hens from.

Love you all.

Julie, Richard, Emily and Lucy (your georgous girls). xxxx

Hi All

I just wanted to let you know how my three hens are getting on, they are beautiful big birds and great layers. They mixed in with my Ex batts exceptionally well.

I would highly recommend Heidi not only for the quality of her birds but for her knowledge and after sales help which is second to none.

As a first time chicken keeper she gave great advice on all aspects of keeping chickens and has been brilliantly helpful!
I will certainly be a repeat customer.

Love Lisa

Hi Heidi and Danny

Please feel free to use the attached photos.  The service you give is outstanding, I know that I can call or email you if I have any problems (which we haven’t)

The Hens are in beautiful condition and are so friendly, all of them come running as soon as they see us, they all eat out of our hands. They are truly “Happy Hens”

Children in the village come to see them and love feeding them too.

We can’t wait to have some more, hopefully this week.

Regards

Peter & Jo Wall

Hi Heidi and Danny

I would like to thank you for all your help sorting out my hen with the poorly face after she had been pecked.   I didn't really know what we were going to do, after all your support and a few antibiotics she has made a complete recovery.

The aftercare support you provide is fantastic I really dont know anywhere else that would provide this.

Thanks Again, Jane

Hello !

Just to let you know that the 4 new hens are happily settling in with their 11 new friends and helping them trash the garden ! The copper blacks have been named Maura (meaning "dark") and Aithne ("fire" - due to the bright copper colour of her ruff),then we have Deya the coucou and Lara Leghorn.

They are all surprisingly calm, even the little leghorn - a breed which can be very Italian in temperament ! I came to you after a bad experience with another chicken supplier - the birds I had from them had to be treated for Coccidia and one died 2 weeks after purchase. When I phoned to (politely) inform them I received aggressive Basil Fawlty style customer service : "it's my day off"; "are you trying to tell me my job ?" etc. Unbelievable !

So I am delighted to have found Heidi's Happy Hens - it is an 80 mile round trip but well worth it - lovely hens and lovely people !!

Thanks Again
Julia

Heidi,

thank you so much for looking after my girls while we went on holiday.  Having them back home is great.  My flock was split a bit, with me having three from one place and then three from you and Danny, but i have to say that they are definitely one group now, and have even more confidence than before they went on their hols!

Thank you again for looking after them so well,

Kind regards

Karen Kent

Hey Heidi,

I hope everything went ok with new baby arrival, you will be pleased to know after the longest 2 weeks of my life our chickens are now
all living together there is still the odd peck but nothing like you pre warned us about, i kept them seperate but an attachement of the run so they could see each other and smell each other i would let them out in the garden together so the new ones could get away if need be and then gradually around work we would put them all together for half a day here and there and now all is fine.

Our 2 new ones (gloria and tizer) are the green egg layers and this week they have both laid green eggs for us, its funny they are so tiny
compared to the others but they also started off small, we have some pics for you dean will email them over at some point.

Thanks for your help and for sure if we need any more chickens we will pre order the green egg layers as chickens they are adorable and so much more people friendly and inquisitive, they come and sit on us if we are at the top of the garden they are so funny.

Thanks again
Paula and Dean x

Hi Heidi and Danny,

Many thanks Danny for your help today, and all your invaluable expertise and advice. We love our two new hens, Theo and Cloughie (Derby county themed...not my choice and Danny was a bad influence with the Cloughie suggestion!) they seem to be settling in well and we are looking forward to trying their eggs when they start to lay.

Thanks Again
Sophie and Sean. x

Hi Heidi,

I just wanted to drop you a email to say a huge thank you for advice & support in introducing our new hens to our existing hens, good news we have all 6 hens together, there is still a little bit of the old girls  being territorial just chasing them away, but its getting better & better each day. Its been a very interesting few weeks learnt a lot & now enjoying watching them 'playing' mixing together...

Thanks again..
Helen

Dear Heidi

Just a note to say thank you so much for you help and advice regarding restocking my little flock.

When I phoned you last week for advice knowing that I would shortly lose another hen (these were not from you) and be down to my last one I was feeling rather despondant and after a short chat with you felt encouraged to have another at henkeeping.

I was worried about introducing new hens to my remaining hen Sadie and you reassured me that it would be ok to put a few new girls in with her and she would be ok.  You were quite right of course and she has been busy sorting out the new additions and showing who is boss!  So far so good.  Clare was very helpful when I came up on  Friday to get three new girls - and left with four.

Would have loved that cockerel if I thought the neighbours wouldn't have minded!  Your set up is lovely and I chose a Snowflake,a Light Sussex, a Pied(Newcastle Hen) and a Copper Black.  Really beautiful hens.

I have not let them out of the enclosed area as yet as a couple of them are a bit flighty and I chose not to have their wings clipped to allow them a means of escape from next doors cats should the need arise.

Hope to meet you at some point - Paul goes past your junction on the motorway when away on business so we will be able to get supplies from you in the future.

Mean time best of  luck to you and your husband with your own little brood!
Howay the lads
Monica

Hi All

Thanks to Danny for making time this afternoon so Paul could pick the new girls up. I was slightly concern what he would choose as I couldnt come with him but credit where credit is due they really are lovely.

Bonus I wont forget when we got them as we had four August 2010 and four August 2011 same as your babies lol!  I hope all is going well everyone.

It must be fate as last of our x batts died yesterday.

Anyway thanks again. Jo

Hello Heidi and Danny

I thought I would take a minute to write and let you know how the 4 hens we recently collected from you are getting on.

Of course the first thing we did was give them all names:

Pinkie (a ranger) - called Pinkie because of the pink tinge on her forehead
and the pink band Danny put on her leg for us :)
Roxy (a black rock)
Cookie (guess what - a coucou)
Pie (a pied - what else :)

All 4 beautifully healthy and obviously well looked after :)

We also have 3 light sussex called Millie, Molly and Mandy and 1 Lohmann brown called Prunella (Pru or Chief Chicken for short :)

All 4 hens have settled in really well and are very happy pecking around the garden catching earwigs and such like.  They are just like people with very different personalities, some shy, some more adventurous and one or two downright bolshy :)  I wouldn't say we have one big happy family, more like two little camps with Pru being Chief Chicken for the original group and Roxy heading up as boss chuck for the newbies but they bumble along quite well together with just the odd tiff.  They are very happy in the Large Deluxe Chicken Coop we brought from you, although they haven't yet sussed that the egg box is for eggs not sleeping, so I have to shuffle them along every night.  Hubbie, Chris has customised our covered run to fit the coop so they have an area about 8ft x 10ft to peck around in when we can't be at home with them. We've also raised it up a bit so they go underneath it for a little extra shelter.  The coop is great for 8 hens and the slightly new design with the opening back and side panels makes access easier for cleaning. When we next get a sunny day I'll try and take some pictures to send on to you.

I wanted to thank you for your help with the purchase of the coop, ensuring I was able to get it delivered and erected in time for the new chucks arrival,  and for Danny's help in choosing our new chucks and showing us how to clip their wings.  I've been singing your praises to everyone who asks after the chickens (think I'm becoming a bit of a chicken bore at
work) and although its a little bit of a trek from Nottingham, it's a very worthwhile journey and I wouldn't buy a chicken from anywhere else now.

I hope you are all well and the little micro pigs are thriving - they were so cute - still not letting Chris have one though :)

Take care and very best wishes

Kate & Chris

Hi All

Congratulations on your new arrival, I hope all is well with him and you Heidi.

Thank you Danny for all your help when we came to pick up our 5 chickens last Sunday, they have settled in very well I will send you some
photos very soon, our 3 year old granddaughter thinks you should call the new baby COLIN after the chicken she choose as her pet.

Best Wishes
Bob & Val (the Birmingham supporter)

Hi Heidi

Just a quick note to say how pleased we are with our 3 hens, they are very friendly and can be picked up and cuddled and will eat out of our hands after just a couple of days of having them The children are getting a huge amount of enjoyment from them.

Also its good to know that you are happy to answer any questions or queries that we have had. Would highly recommend your hens and service.

Many thanks Lisa

Hi All

Just wanted to say a big thank you for your help with our new arrivals. Have to say that being able to buy the whole package from
coup, treatments, feed, straw, feeders etc etc and of course the chickens themselves has made everything really easy - a fantastic way to get started!!

We started with the 4 chickens (Marmalade,Treacle,Pickle and Lilli) in the XL model coup but my husband soon realised how easy it was to enlarge this himself and within a week had been extended to approx 9ft square!!  This of course meant we could have 2 new additions (honey and frosty) who we got just a week after the original chucks!

People do say it gets addictive and I can report that they are right!! Its surprising how much time is spent just watching them scratch and peck and seeing how their own individual characters are developing.

Im pleased to say that after having them for just 2 weeks we have had our first eggs and it was quite exciting and rewarding to be able to eat our own eggs knowing they couldnt be any fresher!!

For anyone considering getting started with chickens get yourself to Heidis Happy Hens where you wont go wrong as everything you want and everything you need to know is all there for you.

Hope all goes well with your new addition when he FINALLY makes an appearance and Im sure we will see you again soon!!

From

Janet & Rob Trafford (and Marmalade,Treacle,Pickle,Lilli,Honey and Frosty)

Hi Heidi and Dan,

Thank you so much for all your help and advice you gave us and for choosing our birds for us.
They are now settled into there new home and enjoying themselves.  Only one hen was left outside on the first night, she kept on trying to fly out of the run and hitting her head on the wire mesh!  She soon learnt her lesson and by night two they all went into the coop with no problems.

The dog was most excited at out new hens and head butted the door trying to get into the run with them.  He settled down really quickly and just lies and watches them. Just a bit jealous I think.

All the neighbours have been to see them and think they are really lovely.  We have also had offers of looking after them if we want to go away! (result).

Emilys boyfriend now wants some as well so you will be seeing us again soon!

The Black rock is named Calpernia
The Ranger is called Scout
and the Coucou is called Boo
These are all names taken from one of our favourite films To Kill a Mocking bird.

Hope by this time you are now at Warwick hospital and delivering you new baby and that all is going or has gone well.

Take care and lots of love from

Carroll, Stephen, Emily and Ethan Dyer

Heidi and Danny

We came over on Saturday to buy a couple of replacement chickens and were extremely pleased to have found you. You came highly recommended and we were very happy with our 2 purchases which have now settled in well.

Thank you again for the advice and for the excellent hens. Hope all goes well with the new little man!  (When he finally arrives)

Kind regards

Mike, Letitia, Lucy, Ben + K2 and Cress

Dear Heidi,

We have had our hens a while now; they settled in within a week and started laying a month after. We love our five hens and we love
watching them. Our hens names are:

   - Emma (an Amber)
   - Snowflake (another Amber)
   - Priscilla (a Copper  Black)
   - Bob (a Blue Haze which Nicholas thinks looks like a dinosaur)
   - Alice (a Crested)

Our champion egg layer, is Priscilla who can lay eggs 6.5cm (2.5 inches) long!
We would all like to say a HUGE thank you for the hens and the tips you have given us about looking after them. We got our hens from the best place.

The Fry family

P.s We hope your baby arrives soon.

Hi Heidi, Danny & Boys,

Firstly, how are you doing Heidi?  I hope you are taking life easy and feeling ok.  I hope everything goes well with Baby No: 3 when he arrives.

Just thought I would send you a few photo’s of our 4 young ladies.  They are brilliant and have really settled down.  We have had eggs from 3 of them, Madge (Ranger), Henrietta (Coucou) and Dorothy (Copper Black) so there is only Daphne (Light Sussex) who hasn’t produced yet.  I’m sure her time will come but, even if she doesn’t, we don’t mind as they are pets more than anything, the eggs are a nice bonus. We once found them in the living room watching TV so, quickly ushered them out before they got too comfortable!!

As you will see in one of the pics, we have extended the Hen House so the chickens now have more space when we have to work and are in the coop for a few hours.  They have plenty of freedom when we are home and put themselves to bed at dusk. I am still very wary of Mr Fox who occasionally makes an appearance. The Girls are lovely and we are so glad we made the decision to pay you a visit.

Take care and we look forward to seeing a photo of your new little addition once he arrives.

With very best wishes to you all.

Carole & Trev Brownley   xxxx

Hi Danny & Heidi,

We purchased 3 lovely hens from you on the 2nd July 2011. just to let you know that they have settled in very well to their new surroundings, all healthy and alert.

The 3 girls were a light Sussex now named Miss Lola, or perhaps she should be known as Queen Lola, as she is at the top of the pecking order. Next was a Black rock known as Miss Gloria, she is 2nd in command, and last but not least is Miss Priscilla Waitrose, the Columbian Black tail.

Just had to add the Waitrose bit after Danny told us that Waitrose only sell eggs from the Columbian Black tail.  They all must be close to laying soon so we await this with anticipation, or perhaps they just want to be teenagers for a bit longer before they get down to the daily chore of laying eggs (ha ha).

Also Dannys tip of keeping the corn in an old tin and shaking it before you throw it out has worked wonders.  Not only has it made our girls so friendly as they come running the second they here it, its also great like you said if we need to get them in from the garden back in their run.

Well they will be returning to you for a 2 week holiday in September so you can see their progress. Thanks once again for all your help. Hope everything goes well with your new arrival shortly, you will have your hands full again.

thanks c u soon
Mike & John  x

Hi Danny & Heidi

Just to say thank you very much for looking after our girls for the week.  They are happily settled back home and look like they enjoyed their little break with you.

Dan great tip on the corn, we never would have thought to put it in a tin and shake it before you throw it out, your right they come running the second they hear the rattle.

We hope that Heidi is home from hospital and a little better.

Take care of yourself Heidi and rest plenty not long before baby number three arrives.

Thank you again and best wishes

Heidi & Danny,

Just want to say a big thank you for your help when we came to look at, and eventually order, our 4 lovely chickens and their new home. The coop arrived when you said and we put it up  no problem, it really was so easy.

We picked the girls up and got them home ok today - thank you Danny for your help. You were brilliant in Heidis absence.  We both hope you are doing ok Heidi, put your feet up and enjoy being waited on, you need to rest.

We will send you a few photos of our "new family" once they have settled down and are free to roam around.

Take care and thank you again very much.

Hi Heidi,

How are you?  I collected my 4 girls from you a couple of months ago. (Remember I had the double purple rings and came to collect 3 chooks, but left with 4!)  I came on here to thank you and let you know how they are. My girls have bought me an unimagined amount of pleasure, they have settled in so well and most definitely rule the roost!

I was so sorry to read that you had been broken into and had lost so many of your hens. It is so sad to to think that anyone could do something like that. I will certainly keep an ear to the ground and will chirp up if I hear anything.

My girls, Bea (Light Sussex - she is the top dog without a doubt), Mo (Pied Suffolk), Lottie (Blue haze) and Penny (Blacktail) are all very happy, very healthy and I get either 3 or 4 beautiful eggs every day without fail.

I am constantly amazed by their personalities, they are so funny. Lotties role is to squawk her head off if I am even as much as a few minutes late in the morning opening the doors of their run so they can investigate THEIR yard. Yes, the girls now own the whole of the yard rather than just the portion that I had partitioned for them.

Bea has even managed to train my laborador...if he enters the yard when they are out, she growls and he backs off and waits until I get his lead! Mo is the sultry one, she is quiet and likes to keep herself to herself - until the treats come out and then she is in line with Bea! Penny is at the bottom of the pecking order, but is cheeky enough to push every boundary and almost always gets away with it. She will regularly take a tasty morsel straight from Beas beak... luckily, she eats fast!

My girls have become my obsession. I couldnt imagine my world without them and after hearing so many horror stories from people who have had their first chooks from lets say "less conscientious" suppliers, I am so glad my girls came from you. I suspect I am bound to see you again in the near future!

Thanks Heidi, from me and the girls. I hope whoever took your hens is soon caught. xxx

Hi Heidi and Danny (and William)

Just wanted to drop you a note to say thanks for everything.  Right from the start you have been great when we first met you and William and you helped us choose a starter pack and house that suited us, you answered all of our questions and were so friendly.  The house arrived on time and we very eagerly got all the pieces out of the boxes and placed them on the lawn and we were absolutely amazed at how easy it was to put together, less than an hour later we were both proudly looking at our girls’ new home. We were helped by our interested cat that was very happy to play in the empty boxes.

When we came and collected the hens and all of the other bits in the starter pack you and Danny were happy to spend talking over what every product does and put us both to ease.

We are now looking forward to our new venture with are girls, who are looking forward to coming on hols with you.

See you all very soon.

Mark & Karen xx

Hi All

I just wanted to say a big thank you for all your help with our 'girls' !

They settled down really quickly and we were really surprised this lunchtime to find a little egg already - laid less than 24 hours after they arrived !

There were so many chickens to choose from, all kept clean and tidy - I didn't know which to choose !!  We're so pleased with our beautiful ladies - their feathers are so clean and they all really are happy hens !  Your help and advice is really appreciated.  Keeping chickens is something that I've been thinking about for the past two years now and I knew I'd picked the right place to buy from as soon as I spoke to you.

It was really great to see the 'starter pack' options - at least you know you have exactly what you need to get up and running.  Opting for the deluxe starter pack meant that I haven't got to worry about getting all the right powders and sprays to make sure our girls remain happy, healthy hens and I know I'll be able to phone for advice when I need to get dusting !

Considering it was only Tuesday when we came to see you, our coop was delivered (as you said it would be) on Thursday, we put it together on Friday (which wasn't at all as difficult as I thought it would be, only a phillips screwdriver required !) and then we were bringing our hens home on Saturday afternoon ... if only everything in life could be so easy !!  I would definitely recommend that anyone wanting chickens, should come to see you !

Thanks very much again

Emma

Hi Heidi and Danny.

We would like to say a big thank you for our lovely chix and all the help you gave us.

We came a week ago yesterday and we had Amber who is called Alfie, Blue haze who is called Danny (not after you Danny but Danny Minogue!!!!!) Ranger who is called digger as she digs and scrats everywhere and a black rock who is called roadrunner as she runs up and down the garden like a mad thing!! They are absolutely brilliant!!!!!

Digger and Alfie alrerady come and feed from our hand. Danny and Roadrunner are still hesitant but I’m sure it wont be long before they come to us.

Digger has given us three eggs already, but Danny did say she was about four weeks older than the others.

I never realised that chickens could be so much fun and entertaining. They all trot off to bed like good little girls when it is time and always there to greet us at the door.

Thank you very very much.

Hi Heidi and Danny,

I just wanted to say a huge thank you for our new hens ( we've named them Kate and William) It was a pleasure meeting you and Danny and I was very impressed by the care, knowledge and attention which you gave us during our visits to the farm.

I must state your farm is impeccable and the conditions which the hens are kept in are a credit to your hard work. It was great to be able to  personally view and pick our  hens, I rush home after work every day to see them.

It's our third day with Kate & William and they both seem to be settling well into their new pad.  I've added myself to your Facebook and look forward to giving you updates on their progress.

Once again thanks for making the whole experience so enjoyable and stress free!

Speak soon,
Micky Sandhu

Hi Heidi,

Hope you are all well at Heidis Happy Hens. I wanted to give you an update on the girls! We settled them in to their new life at the school and the children absolutely love them!

They have been named Plum, Marjorie, Valerie, Princess and Coconut! The children named them and spend lots of time
looking  after them and collecting the mass amount of eggs they lay.  We have a very  successful parent rota established and the hens are very very happy.

The  children now sell the eggs for £1 for 6 to cover the chicken feed and we  currently cover the bills using this money. I will send you some photos soon.

We also mentioned you in the local newspaper we will send you a copy incase you didnt see it.
Thanks again and hope to hear from you soon,

Tracey (The Pastures Primary School)

Hello Heidi and Danny

Just to let you know how our hens are getting on. Bob  (Coucou) and Hannah(Copper Black) were eating from our hands within hours and follow us around all the time. Valerie fed from the hand the next day (Light Sussex).

They have all settled very nicely and by day six Arianna (Blue Haze) was hand feeding and Bob layed her first little egg which we shared between five. It was delicious!

Barmy Briany the Crested is hilarious and they all keep us amused with their interactions. One of the best things is that they have managed to get three teenagers to go out into the garden and sit and chat together and interact with each other without electronic gismos!

I’m sure we will be extending our flock and have recommended you to everyone.

All the best with your new baby

Amanda and Phil Harris

Hi Heidi

Thanks so much for you help with our girls! We love them to bits!  Sue came over today (Sunday) and we all sat in the garden for hours just watching them.

They have had a few cuddles each and lots of settling in treats! meal worms are a firm favourite (and i'm even brave enough to touch the nasty things so the girls can be hand fed).
Thanks again so much!  If you ever need a hand please let me know as Id love to come and help you as I would love to be part of such a friendly loving small farm!

See you really soon

Lots of love

Lisa (& Jared) xx

Hi Heidi

Sorry it has taken me so long to contact you but I have been sooooo busy with my new ladies!  Since picking up my new flock on the 26/3/11 they have all settled in very well and as you kindly sprayed them with pecking the spray my existing flock didn't beat them up that badly and all seems well in the coop now apart from the occasional argument about who gets first dibs at the pellet mash!

My Blue belongs to me so I called her Teresa after my Mum ( which she loves!), Abbey called her white Angel and Louie called his Stripey so I guess we all know what one that is.

We loved coming to you to get our hens, you are so friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble which is good as being a novice hen owner I did not feel like a fool for asking what would probably seem to you like daft questions.

We will be sure to come back and visit you soon as we all had such a fabulous time.I hope your bump is not getting too big now to see to the hens?!

Regards,Michelle,
Abbey and Louie Whitney.x

Hi Heidi & Danny

Just wanted to write to say a massive thank you for all your help and guidance in choosing our lovely chix, and for answering what seemed like very silly questions!!!!  They have been named by Lewis and are 1 x Amber - Edith, 1 x Coucou - Winnie, 2 x Copper Blacks - Kiev and Marmite.

They seem to be settling in very well, Carl is even building them an additional run for theirs to give them more space when we can't let them out - will send photos once complete!

I can sit and watch them for hours, they have so much individual character - Winnie is defnitely the boss and Marmite is just hilarious - freaks himself out very easily and flits all over the place - its funny, we have had loads of fun watching them explore - they are getting a little braver in the garden - finally venturing out from the laurel bush?

I have no problem with recommending you to anyone if they want a chicken or 2 or 3 or 4........its addictive!!!

We will come and see you soon, and they are looking forward to their holiday in August!  And we are eagerly awaiting our first eggs!!!!

I have attached a photo of Lewis feeding them corn, we keep it in the tin just like you said Danny and give it a good ole shake and they come running from wherever they are in the garden.  Great tip!!

Thanks again for everything.  Take care of yourself.  See you soon.

Amanda, Carl, Lewis and the Chix! x

Dear Heidi and Danny

It's been four weeks today since we came to select four hens from you. The children were very excited on the day, fortunately you managed to fit us into your busy schedule and still found time to make us feel relaxed with our selection of chickens. You also helped us chose the most child-friendly breeds.

The chickens have been great fun so far, they were a little timid for a day or two but now they flock around us whenever we go out into the back garden. They have even managed to perch themselves on the outside window sill of the living room a nd stare at us from the garden tapping on the window with their beaks.

To anyone who is looking to get chickens Heidi's Happy Hens is a great choice.

Regards John, Alison, Evie , Sam and our four new additions Tilly, Elvis, Sherbet and Tracey.

Dear Heidi (and family!)

I just wanted to say a massive THANK YOU for our gorgeous birds.  Our beautiful cockerel, named Jeremy Clarkson by Jedd, our son, is just about the most handsome bird I have ever seen (goodness knows why he called him Jeremy!).

He looks after the five girls that came with him, and has taken massive interest in our other girls too.  One of your girls has started
laying already - the sweetest tasting little brown eggs ever.

I was worried about how they would cope with the long journey to Bamburgh, North Northumberland, but your care in preparation, and the attentive support of your family for the journey, ensured that the birds arrived fit and well.
They settled very quickly, and it is as if they have always been here.  What lovely natures you have chosen for us - we are thrilled - THANK YOU!

Allison and family

Hi Heidi,

I hope the pregnancy is going well.

I came for two girls back in Feb to add to my existing two lovelies. They have settled in well & have made us very happy. All of my friends are green with envy and are always visiting.

Thank you so much for your kind help when we came and I've attached some photos of our precious girls.

Thanks again and good luck with your 3rd son.

All the best
Sarah, Kye & the girls (Indi & Dorothy)

Hi,

G'day, just a quickie to say thanks so much for making it possible to order a Birthday present from overseas, most people think Im having a laugh when I order from Australia to a UK address (weird but it does happen). My mother loves the chickens so very quiet and settling in well, so will definitly be ordring more in years to come and i highly recommend you to all my UK friends that would like a backyard flock.

Thanks again

Jane (Australia, Rockhampton)

Hi Heidi

Thankyou so much for my two new Copper Blacks.  They have already settled in after a short pecking order debate with my other chicken and ducks.

Both of them spent the night out and about in Hinckley, ( next time you ask me if you could clip their wings I will say yes ! ). I retrieved them the next morning from my perplexed neighbours and gave their flight feathers a little trim. I am hoping they are a little closer to home when I get back today.

Could I just say that your small holding is fantastic, with your pigs, rabbits and a Labrador the size of a pony, matched by your very friendly service and first class advice. When I am looking for more animals I will most certainly pay you another visit.

Once again, many thanks and keep up the good work

Kevin Walikington.

P.S.  I will send you a box of eggs, ( when I get them )  to clear my debt :)

Hi All

We collected our four chickens for our allotment garden with the intention to get some fresh eggs.  Six wks later they have all changed so much and we are having so much pleasure with our girls and we wish we'd done sooner.

All four are very individual characters.  We have clementine a columbine alias the road runner fast as lightning and an escape artist, Fran a the copper black is the wanabe boss, Molly the blue haze is the boss and so affectionate when she wants to be but always in charge. then last one is our ranger her middle name is trouble if there's mischief or mayhem  shes in it or caused it .

All four are very healthy hens now giving us eggs every day approx 4 a day even double yolkers.  We are so pleased with our girls.

Iam so glad we came to you as your set up was so good and your hens so healthy we felt we could not go anywhere else.  We have praised you to our friends who are coming for there own chicks soon.

Thanks again Regards Sheena and Jim

 Hello Heidi

Just a wee note to say how impressed we were with the friendly, helpful and unpressurised customer service and of course how delighted we are with our three girls.  We have had them for almost two months now and they entertain us no end.  The holiday service is a fantastic idea and we have already used it.

A big thank you.

Julie and Hil

Hi all,

Well we just wante to say we are home and our girls have all been named!! Is allowing the children to name them the best idea? I'm not always sure but we have:

Barney brown - our ranger girl
Santa - our cuckoo girl
Fern - our blue girl.

They were so well behaved and loved exploring their new home. At bed time they have gone away lovely and and closed up for the evening now.  We are all excited to wake in the morning to let them out.

We loved your Farm an felt very welcome. The children loved it an macie is in love with bumble bee the gorgeous pony. Sadly the garden isn't big enough for a bumble bee but I may have to bring her back to see you.

Well will keep you posted and once again want to thank you for all of your help. The emails, welcome calls and then our visit.

We would recommend Heidis Happy Hens to anyone who wants to get some hens, your set up is lovely.

Love Kim, Martin, cooper, macie, Barney brown, Santa and fern.  xxxx

Hi Heidi, Danny and the kids......not forgetting the dogs, chickens, horses, pigs, and ducks etc

We wanted to take this opportunity of thanking you and the team for not only the wonderful condition of the girls but also all the lovely advice and care taken when we were choosing our new pets.  Our Children are excellent carers and spend every waking moment in their "wellies" talking, feeding, cuddling and checking for eggs....!

I think Danny your tip about putting corn in a tin is a genius idea, Kian and Keely have bets to see whos chicken gets to us first, its a great way of the kids interacting with the chickens.

'Our Girls' have various names ranging from Steve to Amelia...!! (All named by the children..... promise!)  They have all settled in really well and we are already having as many as 7 eggs a day ! They are completely happy in their new environment and eating us out of house and home..!!

We would like to recommend your Chickens and service to anyone who is looking to embark on a new chicken venture as you have looked after us so well and our girls when they came on their free holiday over Christmas.

Look Forward to seeing you all soon as you know the kids love coming up to se you all.

Lots Of Love

Rupert, Angela, Kian and Keely

Dear Heidi and Danny,

Please find enclosed pictures of 'The girls' having a roam in our garden.
I am so pleased i found 'Heidis happy hens' as i cannot be more delighted with 'my girls'. My little Amber i called Angelina, Blue haze is called Peppa, Pied is called Penny, gorgeous Columbine called Ginger and not forgetting my Ranger who is called Dora !!
Names supplied by Harry my 3 year old son! Well just to update you really the girls have settled into their new home extremely well and two days ago we had our first egg which turned out to be a complete surprise as it was enormous, and a double yolker!! I was totally amazed as you can imagine.
I am having a bigger coop delivered today so will be along shortly to add to our family as i didnt realise what a delight having hens has proven to be, and so easy to look after.
I was also really impressed with your 'holiday care' as with us going away i know the girls will be looked after really well, so many thanks for booking them in for us.
We look forward to seeing you all very soon, and many thanks for your expert advice and after care.
Love from
Jo and Harry Negus  xx

Hi Heidi,

When I first came to your premises I was taken back by how friendly you all were as well as seeing what a very neat & caring operation you'd got.  They always say 1st impressions count & it is very true, I knew that buying any chickens from your enviroment would be very safe.

The help you gave me and the information you supplied was first rate and I would have no hesitation in recommending you to friends or in deed anyone.

Dannys "top tip" about keeping the corn in a tin and shaking it before feeding it to the girls has made them so friendly.

The four hens I bought from you were in fantastic condition & the advice you gave on the type of supplies I might need was very good.  Everyone who has come round to see the chickens remark on how healthy they look, they were obviously looked after well by you, as within a day they were laying.

Again, thanks for all the help, especially looking after them free for 4 weeks, that is an exceptional service & I would sign off by saying congratulations on having such a professional setup.

Kind Regards - Andy Smith

Hi Heidi,

Just wanted to drop you a line to say a huge thank you for all your help and advice in our first time chuck keeping and of course for our lovely ladies who have settled in very well as these photos demonstrate!

They're so funny, all have their own little characters and enjoy playing with our 2 border collies Fudge & Sky, who are always on hand to help us round them up at bedtime!

Nugget is like the naughty toddler of the group and Tikka loves to climb - the 2 of them are definately partners in crime!

There is no doubt that Kiev is the boss, whilst Chowmein is quite chilled and likes to do her own thing!

It's just coming up for 4 weeks since we got them, but already it's like they've always been here and we can't wait for those lovely fresh eggs to start coming!

Thanks again, take care and wishing you every success with your fab business!

Ali & Steve.  (Not forgetting Nugget, Tikka, Kiev, Chowmein, Fudge & Sky)

Hi Heidi, Danny, William and Harry

We would just like to say Congratulations!! to you all on the birth of your new baby, I hope you are all well and getting some sleep, but I am sure you are all working as hard as ever!!

I can’t say how grateful we are for all the advice and help with our first venture into keeping chickens, I wish we had done it years ago!! After collecting the chickens, they were laying within the first week and have been consistent every day, which is great with 3 growing lads to feed. It never stops being exciting going down the garden to collect the eggs.

Thanks again Sara Marek George William and Edward

Hello  Heidi, Danny, William and Baby Harry

So glad to hear of the safe arrival of your son Harry.

My hens; Onyx, Snowflake Obsidian and Galena (named after crystals) are all doing well.

We had a few escapees when I brought them home but I have now raised the wire around the enclosure. Snowflake still thinks she is Houdini and you have to be fast getting through the gate or she will sneak past your ankles to eat my plants.

I can't thank you enough for the fantastic service; choosing my new pets, collecting them and boarding them for the holiday.
The only trouble is whenever I have visited I want to take home more hens.

I will certainly tell everyone about you and have put up a poster at work.

I hope to see you soon.

Take care, Alison and the 'girls'.

 Hi Heidi

Just a quick e.mail to thank you for all your help last week when we bought our 6 hens from you.

They have all settled down really well.

You have a lovelly small holding and all your pets seemed really happy and content and living in lovelly surroundings.

We will keep you informed of progress and will see you again when we book the girls in for a holiday.

Hi Heidi,

We recently bought 5 hens and a hen house off your website.

We have called the hens Lizzie, Marion, Janet, Gail and Dilly-Anne (although as there are 5 of them we like to call them the Spice Girls!). They're doing really well and we've already had 3 eggs! They love it when we give them corn as a treat and they like to eat it out of our hands. We love them all and they each have their own unique personality and character especially Lizzie and Janet who like to intimidate our cat Archie by flapping their wings and clucking at him through their hen house!

We would like to say thank you for all of your help and advice and for supplying us with 5 wonderful hens and a brilliant hen house which they all love. We will recommend you to anyone who wants to start their own little flock.

Best wishes from the Parry family ( Gill, Bernard and Liz) and the Dixon family (Mary and Ivor).

Hi Heidi & Danny

We hope you are all well and keeping busy (Danny I'm sure Heidi's keeping you busy!!)

We wanted to write a few words to thank you both for helping us start our new chicken family. We had considered having a couple of chickens for a few years and after a simple phone call the thought finally became a reality. It's been a real pleasure in meeting you and we feel that if we have any problems or questions we could call you straight away and you'd help us without a second thought.

We can't thank you enough for all you have done, you both made everything so easy for us. You guided and helped us without ever making us feel pressured or stupid and after meeting you and asking a load of questions we never had any more doubts. We've now had the girls (Mo & Marge) for 2 weeks and their doing well, they've really settled down and getting use to us more & more.

We never realised how easy they are to keep and we love it when they take themselves off to bed!!   We have started letting them out into the garden which has been lovely to watch them roaming around in the evenings, (certainly beats watching Eastenders!!) they go mad for the blossom and love sweetcorn.

We can't wait for them to start laying, it will be a truly momentous occasion - Im thinking about on the same lines of the new prime minister!!

Anyway we want to wish you all the best with the chickens, pigs, rabbits, horses, dog, husband, son & bump (seriously do you have any time for you?)

Thank you so much once again and we would recommend Heidi's Happy Hens to anyone,

Cheers

Julie & Ben xx

Heidi, Danny, William and bump!

A big thank you for all your help and support in the last few weeks leading up to the collection of our 3 girls.  As you know we collected Pollie, Dollie and Roxie yesterday and took them home a short distance to Lutterworth.

There is nothing else to say but WOW!  We have had 4 eggs already - 2 yesterday afternoon and 2 more this morning.  Not bad considering they only came home yesterday lunch time.  After a few hours yesterday in their coop we wanted to see them in their run so we let them out.  They went to roost quite happily last night at dusk and came out of the pop hole this morning when I opened the door.  They all seem quite content, scratching, pecking and generally pottering about.  All three are eating and drinking (and pooing well) and even in the short time we have had them seem  to be getting to know the sound of our voices. I am sure they will soon realise who feeds them.

Wishing you lots of luck with the arrival of your new baby, a little brother or sister for William.

Keep up the good work with your hens, rabbits, pigs, horses etc and we will see you soon.

Shelley & Shane x

Hi Heidi,

Just to let you know we picked up our gorgeous hens on saturday and they have settled really well.  They soon started scratching about and we had a lovely surprise on sunday morning our first egg !!! Then this morning (2nd day) 2 eggs, they must be happy hens !  Thanks for all your help and advice and after sales support its very comforting to know we have somewhere to go if we need help.  Also the fact you offer holiday homing is great it will certainly save us the stress of finding someone suitable to look after our girls we know they will be stopping at a 5 star hotel with you.

Thanks again and good luck with the new baby

Amber, Adrian Poppy and Willow Markham

Heidi

Just wanted to drop you a line to say thank you so much for letting me come and get three new girls last night, straight after your delivery, so I could get them back to meet my lonely Suzie as soon as possible.

We were really impressed with the set up that you have, all of the chickens looked fantastically healthy and alert even though they had only just arrived from their road trip.

The good news is that Suzie made more noise and was more alert in the hour after we brought Aggy, Cally and Jazz home than she had been since Lulu died last Friday. The bad news is that as expected she is bullying all of them, particularly Jazz, I guess because she is the biggest.

We feel awful that we thought we were going to give our three new girls a lovely home and now it feels like we have taken them from your very happy hen house to a war zone! They did all sleep together with no problems last night but no such luck during the day. I guess we just have to let nature take its course. After a bit of pecking last night when we got home, she is more intimidating now, chasing them etc.

Thanks again for the antibiotics for my sick hen (not from you) and the tips on worming etc, trying to get Suzie to drink is clearly going to take some doing but I'm sure we will get there in the end and when they are all running round being happy hens together we will have forgotten that all this nasty business ever happened.

So thanks once again, good luck with the impending birth for both you and the piggies!

Deana & Mark

Hi Heidi

Just an update for you on the four hens, two ranger and two copper blacks,we bought from you in June, on our daughters birthday (3rd) and also to ask if we can take advantage of you free holiday care service.

Our four hens are adorable and quickly settled into life here. We each named one of them and they have all developed such amazing personalities. We are lucky in that we always get four eggs a day, and some of the eggs are the biggest i have ever seen. Our four hens are named Gretel, Alice (the copper blacks), Dorotthy and Matilda (the rangers). Dorothy was the hen you were going to keep for yourself as she was so social. She continues to be very social and very adventurous. Gretel is without doubt in charge, and Alice lays the
biggest eggs which are more often than not double yokes! Matilda was the smallest and has only recently started laying. She is, in many ways the most street wise and will often chase our cats off when they go into the garden.

They are all realy wonderful and we are really pleased to have them. Thanks very much for giving them such a great start to their lives. They are certainly happy Hens.

Thanks very much again for such wonderful hens,

Regards,

Chris Pollitt

Hi Heidi

It's been a week now so thought we would drop you a line to say thank you for your help and advice with our four new chickens.  We only initially came for two but ended up taking home three (Ranger, Amber and Copper Black) and added an additional one (Blue Haze) the next day after a last minute change of decision when we arrived home. We were very excited to set up the new chicken coop and get them settled in straight the way.

They seem to be very happy in their new home and have settled in well, the dog and cats are fascinated with the new arrivals, as is our 17 month old son Harry.

Thanks once again for going that little extra and sorting out the delivery of the final chicken, we are very grateful for all of your help.

Good luck with your new arrival.   Thanks Again Pete and Chrisy, Hinckley Leicestershire

Hi Heidi,

Thanks for all your advice and kind attention. We really did feel more confident about keeping chickens knowing you were "on call". Our three have settled in well and been laying eggs since they arrived last Saturday which is a bonus on top of the entertainment they provide.

Thanks once again,

Philip & Sheila

Hi Heidi & Danny,

We bought 4 hens off of you 2 weeks ago today (seems like we've had them for months-in a good way).  Well just to let you know they settle in instantly.

We named them Harriet, Ella, Ben (sorry our son insisted a hen could be called Ben), and wait for it....Attila the Hen - sorry again to the hen, but this one was Cam's choice he spent a night choosing between that and nuggets!  Harriet is the cheekiest (the ranger) and she'll come right up to you whenever she sees you, she's also the first to eat my sunflower plants and escape out the run if you turn your back for a second.

Ella (white speckled ranger) is as soft as muck and loves being stroked on her back.  Attila (the blue) is quietly confident and the largest,

Ben (the amber) is fast.  They love to sunbathe and when they were out in the garden the other day we looked up to see them all stood at the patio window watching us eating our lunch.  They're ever so funny, though the way they quizzically look at us I
think that feeling is mutual.

Any news on the baby?  Hope everything is going well for you.

Take care,

Andrea J Greenwood

Hi Heidi

Just wanted to say a huge thank you for our hens we were going to go to Merrydale Poultry but they have now stopped selling POL chickens and I am really pleased because that made us find you.   All of your birds are of exceptional quality and value. The 6 month
guarantee gives you great peace of mind. The birds are settling in fine and started laying eggs the day after we got them home!

Thanks for your support.
Luke, Leicester

Hi heidi and Danny,

Just wanted to say a huge thank you for all the advice you gave Arron and I when we came to see you. Heidi you were very honest and told us to ring you anytime ,which for me was the next day!!!

We left with 4 very happy, healthy chickens who have settled in very well as Danny saw when he dropped some supplies off to me today. If we ever decide to expand our flock we would most definately come back to you and would recommend anyone else to  go to you aswell.

Take care and good luck with the birth of your second son, and please tell William we think Archie is great
Regards Leigh and Arron x

Hi Both,

Hope you are doing ok and the piglets have settled in.

Just wanted  to let you know that all 9 chickens have settled  now.  We did have a couple of days when the new 5 young ones got picked on  a little bit  and i did wonder and worry whether things would settle down.   Thankfully they have and we are getting roughly 3 eggs a day at the minute -  which is great.  Taylors loving having them and spends alot of time in the  coop with them.  Shes certainly proven to us that she was ready to look  after chickens, bless her its only taken 3 years to persuade me!!!

Thank you so much for taking the time with us when we came to see you - it  made it alot easier. I have put up the posters you gave me and raved about  you guys so hope that brings business your way.

Take care - Jo and Nobby Clarke

Hi Heidi ,

As first time chicken owners we would like to thank you for your  constant help and advice , its great to know you are there with the answers!

Our three girls - Bluebell , Lily and Dotty have settled in nicely and are now Sarah and Johns happy hens !!!!

They really are beautiful healthy birds with plenty of character , each one of them being very different !
We would definitely recommend you to any budding chicken owners and  intend to continue using your services ourselves for advice , free holiday care  - which we think is just great and also for any additions to our brood  !

We hope you are keeping well and wish you well with your soon to  be new addition to the family !

Looking forward to our first eggs !
Sarah and John Finch xxx

Hi Heidi,

I had to write to let you know how pleased I am with the pair of amber hens you delivered for me.

They are very beautiful hens, so placid and serene, they are into a routine already and were very easy to train alot easier than other pets in our household

They are a beautiful colour, when the sun hits them they seem to have silk running thru their feathers and they have an amber glow, they look alot like swans and seem to glide round the garden

Your service was excellent even delivering to me as i am disabled so all in all i rate you 10/10 and would highly recommend you and your hens,

Hugs liziann, am looking forward to my first gifts of lovely fresh eggs. xxx

Hello there,

We just wanted to let you know how well our six hens we got off you have settled in, the ladies as I call them are all real characters , we named them Doris, Florence, Patricia, Sunny, Stella and Ginger, Doris is one of the amber stars and she really is very placid.  The good news is we now get 4 eggs a day!

And we have been lucky enough to have 3 double yoked eggs so far! Danny was right about the spaghetti they love it! And as they get to rome around they garden they find some tasty bugs to eat too. We wanted to say thank you for waiting patiently for us as we tried to find you! And also thanks for all your advice; we will definitely recommend you to other people. Hope all is well and we will send some pictures to you soon.

Many Thanks
Wayne , Jo  and children ( from Leamington Spa )

Hi Daniel & Heidi

Laura & David here, we bought 9 chickens from you a few weeks ago and we wanted to thank you for providing them. All 9 are healthy and happy and have settled beautifully, our Bluebell laid her first egg on Saturday and one a day since then. Hopefully the others will soon get the idea and all our friends and family will be enjoying fresh eggs before long. We will probably want a few more in the new year and won't be going elsewhere. I have recommended you to other potential buyers who are still considering it.

Thanks again for your help.

Hello Heidi,

I'm dropping you a brief note to just say a big thank you for all your valuable advice, help and for the six healthy hens we bought from you. The one hen, an Amber which we call Florence is now laying one a day and the others look as though they are going to follow suit any day now. They all have a character of their own and its great fun watching them all roaming around in our garden.

So once again thanks for your continual help and advice, to us the pupils and you the teacher.

Kind regards,

Hi Heidi,

Our 4 new residents have settled in very well and are full of curiosity about the garden.  Both the Rangers are eating out of my hand and the other two are tempted!

We'll  keep you up to date!

Hi Heidi

Just to let you know that our hens have settled in nicely.  The blue one my son chose on it's jumping abilities likes to stand on top of the run and hurl herself off!  Mine, the white one, is a little more sedate!  They seem to get on with each other after some initial arguments, and now follow each other around the garden.  They even take themselves off to bed at night.

Thanks for the tip on spaghetti, they do like that.  I was really worried about my cat, due to the fact that she is not adverse to dragging a wood pidgeon or magpie through the catflap.  However, after some initial curiosity is now treating the new arrivals with utter disdain.

Thank you for being so friendly when we came and all the advice, which we really appreciate.  Tracy, Zak and Kellie (and Phoebe and ebay - the hens.)

Hi Heidi,

I'm just dropping you a note to say it was a pleasure to come back and buy another few hens from you to extend our little flock to six.  They are settling in well, getting to know the others through the fence of their separate little run, we plan to put them in together in the next couple of days.

We were all impressed with your new facilities and Adam commented that not only was he spoilt for choice, when choosing his three hens, but how clean the facilities were kept and how happy and healthy all the hens were.

And of course as it was Easter Saturday we couldn't resist taking home two of the 4 day old chicks you showed us.  Tulip and Daffodil and doing amazingly well, we cannot believe how fast they grow.  Their wing feathers and tail feathers are now well defined, and they eat and cheep away all day and enjoy sleeping close to the heat of the Aga at night.

Wishing you the best of luck with your venture and of course you're expanding family.  Please let us know when the micro pigs arrive.

Best Wishes
Shân

I will never forget the excitment of taking my three children Hannah, Tom and Frankie to choose and reserve their chickens from Heidi.  I had read books and websites all about keeping chickens and was still a little nervous about.   But with advice form Heidi we settled our 3 girls into their new home, and what joy they bring.  Within days they were eating corn out of hands GREAT TIP DAN about putting it in a tin and following us around the garden they are even best friends with our Springer Spaniel, Bailey.  Tom aged 8 is our Chief Chicken Keeper and it still makes me laugh seeing him walking around the garden with a chicken under his arm.  I think the first few weeks the hens had forgotten how to use their legs!!!

Hens - they are just the best pet - they provide endless entertainment just watching them.  No other pet keeps your garden weed and slug free, eats your left over veggies and provides you with BEST EGGS EVER every morning - believe me you will never ever want to buy eggs from shops again.

"Heidi's Happy Hens" have definately made us happy and the best thing is that I know that Heidi is always there to give advice if we need it.

Hi Heidi,

Nice to meet you and Danny today.  Thanks for your help choosing hens.  They travelled home very quietly and we have put them in their new home.

Hi Heidi,

Hope your ok, I got 5 chickens from you last year and I wanted to update you on how they are doing- They are brilliant, didn't realise what good pets they would make!

They are called Daisy, Camya, Rhoda, Katie and Davina. 4 out of them are laying, they are so much fun and my son loves them as well. I've recommended you to a few people as well.

So thank you
Nicole

Hi Heidi

Thank you for the care advice. They settled in their new coop fine last night and this morning we had two eggs (one white, one brown). They have been out roaming the garden with us today. They are much quieter than we expected!

Thank you, Emma and Stuart

Hi Heidi

3 gorgeous hens have settled in very well.  We were given a rather nice white cockerel yesterday, so now have quite a collection!.  Thank you very much.

Anna

Hi Heidi...just a quick note to say that all is well...the chickens have settled into their new 'pad' and have had a good time in their new run. They have a really big open run...Steve is building a sheltered area. The dogs for some reason won't come into the house ....no idea why..LOL...but I will take some photos in the morning to show you their house and run...which has two apple trees in it...so it's nice and big!!

Our grandchildren can't wait to come to see them and my dad has already been round!

Thanks so much

Jenny and Steve

Hi Heidi

Kind Regards Neil (rugby).

Hello Heidi

We came to you 5 weeks ago to purchase 2 chickens to add to our collection.  We were really impressed with how healthy your chickens were, and in the end went away with three (Having seen them I wanted 4 but my husband put his foot down!)

You asked us to let you know how they are getting on....

We have named them Emmeline(Pankhurst) Anais (Nin) and Alice (Walker), all strong and influential women of their time.

We put them into a coop with 3 established bantams and a light Sussex ..... and another hen that we introduced the same day from another farm.

We had bought another coop so they would have a new coop to themselves. The layout is a large run with a coop at ech end.  Our intention was that they would eventually share the large run that is between the two, but to start with we put a bit of fencing across so each group could use only half, but see each other and get accustomed to each other first.

What a laugh.  They did everything they could to get together, climbed up the fencing, tried to dig under - so we gave up and put them together in the end - they then insisted on sleeping all 8 of them in one coop.  They have got on really well. its really crowded in the coop at night, but we are not worrying as they do it out of choice not necessity.  they now use the other coop for laying.

Emmeline and Anais are more timid, so we can't get to pick them up for love nor money, but Alice is unbelievably tame.  She comes for cuddles (if we have food in our hand!)

We have just had an egg from Emmeline, and are waiting for the other two to start laying.

Thank you Heidi for providing us with such strong, healthy, and affectionate hens.
We will soon be back for more, if we can extend the coop!

Kind regards
Naomi and Rob

We found our three lovely hens via a website advertising pets. We first met Daniel who gave us plenty of time to choose the hens we preferred. We chatted quite a long time, and he kindly gave us 6 eggs from his hens.

Within a few days, one of our hens seemed a bit off colours and several times I rang Heidi who gave me very good advice and was ready to send my some of her own medication by post, and she was ready to exchange our sick hen for another more healthy. But I wanted to keep "my hen" and she recovered very well, thanks to Heidi and her advice and medication. We drove instead to their home and were given not just some medication but a very warm welcome and more advice.

Next we were stuck at the last minute with no "pet-sitter" available just a few days before going abroad. We rang and Heidi very kindly again said she would have them "on holiday" for the time we were away ourselves. We were so relieved not to have to give up our "three ladies" as we call our hens because of holidays.  We left knowing they would be looked after in their previous environment, so not stressed.

We would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to both Heidi and Daniel for their "after sale" unique attitude. We sincerely are very grateful. Regards, Chantal & Chris

Hello

Just wanted to say a big thank you to you and hubby for this morning. He was so patient, gave us loads of information and even helped me to pick my chix when I had'nt a clue which ones to go for!!

Much appreciated and thanks for holding them while we sort a coop out.

Love your lil Shetlands too.

Warm regards

Sue White

I just wanted to say we have brought 4 hens from Heidi and they are great they settled in straight away and the children were able to pick them up and stroke them. Heidi and Danny were more than helpful as we were new to having hens, they took time to explain the different birds and

talked us through the care and management. We were also able to purchase the food. I would recommend buying hens from Heidi.    We will keep in touch.

Thank you again

Sarah, Mike and the children.

Hi Heidi,

Hope you are all keeping well. We had our first (double yoked) egg yesterday - what excitement - and they have all settled in well (in
fact, one, named Primrose, is very cheeky!).

We will always recommend that people buy hens from you.

Take care,
Nikki

Hi, Heidi, we just want to say thanks for our two gorgeous girls! We can`t believe how tame they are, they already eat out of our hands!
I`m so grateful for all your advice. We can`t wait to get a couple more now!
Hope you are well. My sister and baby Phoebe are both doing fine, little Phoebe is totally gorgeous.

Kind regards, Sarah.

Dear Heidi, Danny and William

We have just checked your website for news and found out that a baby is on his way. We wish you all the best and a safe arrival to baby in August.

We are still very happy with Specky, Amber and Greeny. Specky had a close encounter with a fox whilst rummaging in our garden, and Chris gave such a cry that the poor fox got frightened and dropped Specky, who ended up shaken and with less feathers on her backside, but safe. Now they stay in our soft fruit cage which is about 5m by 4.5m. They don't seem to eat the redcurrant
which is a plus as I do my jellies and ice creams with them every year. At night they go in their shed.

That's it for today. You take care, and we shall keep an eye on the news on your website again.

Best regards

Chantal & Chris

Dear Heidi,

Just wanted to say thank you for all the help getting the chickens, they seem very happy and will already eat out of our hands (for boiled pearl barley anyway!)

Thanks

Chris
