What Makes Us Special and Different from lots of other companies?

BECAUSE WE THINK OF EVERYTHING

When we first set up Heidi's Happy Hens we wanted to make sure we had thought of everything.  This is why from day one we have never charged you for boxes to take your girls home and we never will.  Also this is why we have outdoor toys and other animals to look at, because we want you to enjoy your time with us.  Being a family business is how the FREE holiday care started because we all know how important little breaks are.  (Not that we get many anymore).  Danny then had the idea about reserving hens just because you may not quite be ready to take your hens why not be able to come and pick / reserve them.  We then thought about all of you that might not be able to get to us.  No worries we will come to you.  However we have now made even more changes, if its raining we have a seating / waiting area.  And if you still want to walk around we now have a bucket of umbrellas to stop you getting wet.  Also you now get a goody pack.  If you feel there is something we could do better or have an idea for us please come and talk to us because we would love to hear your opinions.

CUSTOMER SERVICE AND OUR PROMISE TO YOU

I love my job and I know how lucky I am working with animals and meeting some great people along the way.  We are a real family business and I love the fact I get to work with my hubby at the weekend or that my big sister will often drop in and bring me lunch.  I'm hoping this will continue in 2012 even though I'm not pregnant.  Often my dad will be seen walking across the field with a bag and a shovel collecting horse poo for his raspberries normally with Willliam helping him.  

I really am living the dream but that is because of you.  We will do everything within our power to make sure you leave us 100% satisfied with the service you have received.  For example if you were to buy three different hens and after a day or two had fallen in love with one breed and wished you would have got three of the same, no problem ring me and we will swap them over for you.  Or if you buy hens and when you get them home you think you should have got one less because the coop looks cramp again no problem.  Always ring and talk to us about anything because there is nothing that can not be put right.  There are lots of companies out there that will not take hens back once you have walked out the door we are not one of those companies.  Please read the below comments from two customers to see what they think about our customer service:

We had to write and say a HUGE thank you for your amazing customer service.  When I first called you to say I had a fox attack you were so lovely and didn't make me feel stupid after crying down the phone to you.  The fox took three of our ladies and left us with one who was so scared and just hated being on her own.  At the time you were waiting for your delivery that was due in five days so didn't have any hens left.  I really didn't want my girl to be on her own so you kindly offered to let me borrow one of your own chickens to keep mine company.  I lent Shearer your beautiful Pied Chicken to keep mine company until your new batch came in.  I have never met a company that goes that extra mile the way you do, other companies could learn lots from you.  Your not the closest to us but you are by far the best.  We loved having Shearer as she was so cheeky so much so when we returned her to pick up some new girls.  A pied was the first we chose.

It was great to speak to you today Heidi – I’d been browsing your website looking to buy a couple of POL hens, as I have recently lost two of my chickens to old age, and I have one lonely ‘girl’ left! I was so impressed by the service you offer and the care and attention you take to make sure your customers are happy, as well as your obvious passion for chickens (& all other animals too!).

It was so kind of you to offer me a “loan hen” for a few weeks until you get your next delivery of POL hens – as I was concerned about my one lone chicken getting miserable by herself!  I know that this is above and beyond the kind of service I would get elsewhere,  and in these times where people are so quick to complain about bad customer service, I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate the offer!

To be honest, I was pretty convinced to go for Bantams this time around, but having seen the way you do business at Heidi's Happy Hens, I’ve changed my mind and will definitely be coming over for some new “girls” as soon as you have some ready!

BOXES
When collecting your hens we always have boxes in stock, for you to transport your hens home.  These are FREE and we will NEVER start charging for these.  We try and do our bit for the environment so you might end up taking your girls home in one of Danny's old wine boxes, or an old toy box from William and Harry (esp round Christmas and Birthdays) or a nappy box from Jack.  

FREE HOLIDAY SERVICE - MORE INFO ON OUR HOLIDAY CARE PAGE
All of our customers that have bought hens from us will get one FREE holiday for your hens EVERY YEAR.  If you need us to have the girls more than once there is a charge of £5 per hen per week.  Any extra days will be charged at £1 per day per hen.  All of your hens will be kept in their own coops, and will be red mite powdered whilst with us.  All coops will be fully disinfected after every stay, with the full biolink treatment.  Check out our redmite page for more info.  Also during red mite season we will use smoke bombs too.  As red mite is NOT a sign of poorly kept hens.  We will provide all food and treats.  Please Please Please try give us as much notice as possible as we do get booked up really quickly.  When we have booked your hens in we will give you a reference number.  However If we are booked up I do know of other places you can try.  If you have any questions please call me.

GOODY PACKS - PLEASE NOTE THIS WAS STARTED HERE AT HEIDIS HAPPY HENS!!
From Jan 1st 2012 you will not only leave with your fully vaccinated & guaranteed hens but a goody pack as well.  This will include a care sheet and general advise about what to do when you get your girls home, a copy of all the vaccinations they have had, a free holiday care voucher.  Your six month guarantee.  If you recommend us to a friend and they buy hens from us.  You will get a free bag of 20kg feed.  So spread the word about us and feed your girls FOR FREE!   You will also get a raffle ticket and at the end of that month you will be entered into a prize draw to win a few goodies, that is our way of saying a BIG thank you for buying from us and supporting our family business.  If any of our pre 2012 customers want one please pop in and collect one xx

SIX MONTH GUARANTEE
We are proud of the hens we sell therefore we guarantee all of our hens for six months. 

CHILD FRIENDLY
As a mummy of three beautiful boys we have made our site very child friendly, so there is a play house, slides and loads of toys for children to play with.  We are always adding to our outdoor toy range so if anyone has any old ones they would like to donate or sell please get it touch.  Please encourage your children to look for eggs in all the coops because they really enjoy it.  If they find any please take them home to enjoy.   

CHICKEN KEEPING COURSES
We have been asked by lots of customers if we would start to do these, so we are going to start running chicken courses.  We will run these once a month.  Maybe more if the demand is there.  Please have a look at our "chicken course" tab at the top of this page for more details.

OTHER ANIMALS 
Not only do we have chickens clucking around the site, we also have loads of other animals for you to see / stroke.  We have Archie and Shadow our two dogs, very friendly and love being fussed.  (But if you have children that are scared of dogs please let us know and we will shut them away).  Shearer and Bumble who are two mini shetland ponies, Ben 10 Bear who is Williams pony.  Our little herd of micro pigs and If we have any baby rabbits for sale these will be there not forgetting lots of cats / kittens.

March 2012 we have had two little Silkie cockerels arrive (Ant and Dec).  Beautiful goat kids Snap, Crackle and Pop and our two mini donkeys who arrived April.  Hamish and Beth.  Not forgetting Polo our lamb and my stunning peacock Fillip.
